The market, honestly
Roughly three million visitors a year against a very small year-round town.
Osage Beach has about 4,600 permanent residents and spans two counties. Lake Ozark has about 2,100. Camdenton, the Camden County seat, is under 4,000, and Eldon over in Miller County is about 4,400. Those are the populations that have to absorb millions of visitors between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Here's the number that explains everything about the phone problem: at the 2020 census, more than half the housing units around Osage Beach were vacant — because they're second homes. The people who own them aren't here most of the year, and when something breaks they are calling from somewhere else entirely, describing a problem they can't see, to a business that's already flat out.

Can I turn it on just for the season?
ACE runs on a twelve-month agreement, so the honest answer is no — it's priced as a year-round service, not a summer rental. What you can do is forward your line to it only when you want: nights and weekends in the off-season, all the time from May to September. The service stays on; how much of your phone it sees is your call, and you can change that any day.
What happens when five people call at once on a holiday weekend?
